Seven Years In, P&W Law Continues Its Strategic Expansion Around Rural Texas

Parish & Wright, PLLC is expanding the reach of its practice while remaining a lean firm with a presence in Austin for its clients. The firm now regularly advises clients across wide areas of rural Texas—including Northeast Texas, far East Texas, and Northwest Texas from its satellite offices, and Central and South Texas as matters require.

That work grew out of long-standing general counsel and regulatory counsel to rural electric cooperatives in Northeast Texas. It now includes board and corporate governance, regulatory and administrative matters before the Public Utility Commission of Texas and other agencies, transactions, pre-litigation and litigation management, and day-to-day general counsel. “Many rural organizations and closely held businesses need that mix of services without standing up a full in-house legal department,” per co-founding principal attorney John T. Wright.

As load growth, data-center development, and new energy infrastructure press rural Texas, whether in the panhandle or the piney woods or southern plain, the firm is helping cooperatives and their member-landowners work through the legal issues as they arise: easements and right-of-way, facilities and service agreements, governance, disputes, and regulatory filings.
